Carotenoids is found in abundant in good carbs such as orange, red and yellow fruits and vegetables. Beta-carotene is he best known carotenoids and is known to hlep reduce the risk of colon, rectum, breast, uterus and prostate cancer. Other important carotenoids include alpha-carotene shown to protect against breast cancer; lutein which guard against cancer of colon, lung and breast; lycopenen protect against cancer of prostate, colon, baldder, and pancreas; and zeaxanthin linked to lower risk of breast, cervical and colon cancer.
Here is some tips to increase your carotenoids intake in diet:
Fill your plate with as many colorful vegetables as you can. The more colorful your food selection, the more carotenoids you will eat.
Eat canned soup which is tomato based
Drink vegetables juice rather than sodas
Add extra tomato sauce or paste to soups and stews
Enjoy exotic fruits such as guavas and mangoes for and change and pace
Snack raw fruits and vegetables to get the most carotenoids. One exception is carrotsh which actually release more carotenoids when cooked.
